Review: Parasite

"It is all metaphorical."

No! You don't expect such an end! It's unearthly. Came out of the blue! Though I can say it for the whole movie as it's among the most strange movies I have ever seen with whom I also want to tag surreal or absurd, the end brought an unexpected turn in it something which you can't think about. IT WILL SHOCK YOUR CORE!! One of the best scenes in the cinema world!

The title!! It's everywhere from the beginning to the end. It seems that the whole movie feeds upon its title. The movie sucks the essence of the word 'parasite' and pays its respect by illuminating the title all the time. Very few movies can justify their title perfectly, completely. It is among them!

The basement apartment of a poor family represents a discriminated lower class of society of people with fewer opportunities with high desires. Though having good talent, they don't have enough source to up themselves so sometimes they use every means of way to make their life better. They constantly do struggle for it. The basement under the house exactly represents a different set of people of the same society. They are like a leech. They are poor and needy too but they don't want to anything and want to use everything and everyone which is available easily. They will live upon it without any plan to make life better and can die just like it. They have no desire, no hope, no life, nothing. They feed upon others and can go on forever like this. The third perspective can also be seen as sometimes those people who can't complete their dreams, in the end, they leave their fight for it and also become dependent over others to survive anyhow...

Painting? I don't know about depth but I know one thing that any stupidity of a rich considers as an art by the people who understand artless or by cons who understand the benefits out of such stupidity more!! One more factor is that the boy saw someone (ghost according to him) and he made a painting but nobody took him so seriously! As he mentioned about the smell!

The smell is precisely used and perfectly presented as a main source of discrimination of higher and lower people!! Smells of both are different as to where they live, work, what they wear, their soap, etc. In the movie the Parks family doesn't like the smell coming from a poor family, they can't stand it. Director cuts all drama of class differences and simply yet poignantly put it here with this small but important point.

The windows! What to say about this genius use of windows and their views, the world which they both show, different emotions of the different class of people toward rain, the house in the basement -house on the mountain, stone between dream and reality, and other small things create a mesmerizing movie which will live in your mind and feed upon your thoughts for a long time!!

This is what I got from my first view. I Will add more after rewatching it because one time is not enough to understand everything about one of the greatest movies of the 21st century.
