MOVIE REVIEW: Black Bear (2020)

"𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱..."
"𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗜 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜'𝗺 𝘀𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀."

I think it best suits the movie itself. Who knows that it could be as easy as it seems, but we are making it difficult to understand, who knows, I mean who freaking knows what's going on here? Please tell me too!

It opens with Aubrey Plaza, who plays Aubrey Plaza in the first half, I mean both actor and character are weirdly awkwardly funny (watch her interviews). She has come to a house in the woods to work on her script as she is a writer/director. She is welcomed by a couple, though unintentionally she disturbed their lives. In just one night a series of arguments, fights, allegations, heartbreaks, take part which gets complimented by the sudden presence of a black bear. From there, the second part starts, which really doesn't help rather makes the movie more complicated to understand. And here MULHOLLAND DR. meets WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE.

A thought came into my mind while watching it which also sparked when I was watching Onibaba, a silent presence of nature in both of them. Indifferent to whatever is going around it, changes, changes in roles, changes in gender roles, infidelity, manipulation, torture, brutal fights, murder and many other dramas of the human world throughout ages, it remains silent, or as the movie itself says "𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗼." It neither supports nor takes part in any dramas around it but even in its passive presence, it helps to enhance the dramas.

The fundamental difference between nature and the nature of human being is nature presents itself as it is, but we fake, we lie, we hide underneath of complimenting each other, little joes, small takes, intellectual debates, and hardly reveals our true selves. Same as the movie, you don't know what is real or not whatever you are seeing in it. It's like the movie is itself giving hints to not to trust anything you see here by the dialogue

"𝗜'𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲."
